I have been privileged to perform this work numerous times during Holy Week. “The Confession Stone" was written for Canadian contralto Maureen Forrester in 1966 by Canadian composer Robert Fleming and set to the text of African American poet Owen Dodson. It is "Seven Songs of Mary", depicting Christ from birth through crucifixion. Maureen used to take copies of the score with her wherever she went to give to students who wanted to be coached.

Also in this concert, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater will be performed by my good friends Marnie Setka-Mooney and Sara Partridge.

This concert is dedicated to our friend, teacher and mentor Cathie Young who passed away last year.
